Embrace your inner TomBoy | styling boyfriend jeans

The understated, distressed boyfriend jean is a must have in any girls wardrobe this year. After all androgynous clothing has been a number one trend for years right?

My favourite pair of boyfriend jeans are in a light wash and are from the online boutique Tobi. These are the Silver Lake boyfriend jeans and are my favourite pair for a zillion different reasons! Firstly, they are slightly more fitted around the waist so not as baggy making them really flattering and more feminine particularly for my body shape. If you’re a slave to skinny jeans like I was don’t be scared that the boyfriend jean will completely rid you of any shape, look for pairs that are slightly more fitted around the waist, you’ll be surprised how flattering they really are. And so comfortable!

The distressed look is also a huge A/W15 trend and these jeans have just the right amount of rips to add a really grunge feel to your look but aren’t over done so your entire leg is exposed. My favourite way to wear boyfriend jeans is rolling the cuffs whether paired with heels, flats or some leather boots.

For a sophisticated and chic style I love pairing my distressed boyfriend jeans with white blouses. This Misty Haze blouse from Tobi has a sweeping low neck line that wraps slightly around the hem. I love this blouse as it really feminises the look while still remaining edgy with the sharp collar and plunging neck line. Another way I love pairing this blouse is with some faux leather pants or busted knee jeans.

What I’ve really been loving this season is muted colour palettes and washes like this grey Beverly Crop Sweater. I always find myself gravitating towards sweaters that have a heavier knit and are cropped so this one I picked up from Tobi has soon become a staple in my wardrobe. Grey is a super flattering shade and pairs perfectly against the light blue acid wash of these boyfriend jeans. As it’s becoming much colder here in Queensland the necessity for good quality sweaters has risen and I was really happy that this one was so cozy, soft and of excellent quality, it is sure to last me a long time!

What I love about boyfriend jeans is their versatility, you can almost pair them with anything and completely change your entire look. They are incredibly edgy, comfortable and understated in the most stylish way possible. Forget the skinny jean and make way for boyfriend jeans in your closet this winter. Check out the other massive collection of jeans from Tobi’s website.

Mac Lipsticks Collection

This has been a long awaited blog post and is well and truly one of my favourites to share with you all! Mac has been my all time favourite beauty company for lipsticks for so long as you would know if you read my recent blog post! and over time I have slowly but surely been collecting and building on my collection. Finally, I have a nice amount to do a collections post to share with you all.

Speed Dial is by far one of my most loved out of my Mac lipstick collection. It is a gorgeous rose pink and my go-to ‘my lips but better’ shade. It is incredibly pigmented and long lasting but may require a few touch ups every now and then. I love wearing this during the day with soft neutral eye shadows and bronzed skin. It is also a cremesheen lipstick so of course very moisturising and creamy.

Next is a new addition to my collection, one which I have been eyeing up for so long! This is in the shade Saint Germain. All I think when looking at this is Barbie! It is the perfect cool toned Barbie pink you will ever come across. Super, super pigmented and the colour pay of is unreal. I love wearing this with an all black outfit or on a night out. While it’s not my typical everyday shade this lipstick does give you a pop of colour to any look and if you’re all for bold makeup could totally be worn throughout the day.

My number one lipstick out of my entire lipstick collection is in the shade Creme Cup! I wear this lipstick almost every single day, on-the-go or throughout the night. It is the perfect cool toned beige-pink nude, pigmented and moisturising. I wear this lipstick with any kind of outfit whether it be for a casual day at uni or a night out with friends. It is really versatile and goes perfectly with my fair skin shade as it doesn't wash me out at all.

The very first Mac lipstick I ever owned I received from my best friend as a gift and it completely sparked my love for their lipsticks. This was in the shade Hue. Hue is a super sheer nude with a glaze finish. I would describe it as a really soft peachy nude, very natural as the finish is super sheer almost like a lip gloss. At first this shade was really hard to work with my skin tone but paired over a pinker lipstick or with tanned skin it really does look amazing. As its sheer it also isn't messy so it makes for a perfect ‘work’ shade or if you’re just going for something super chic and natural for on the go.

Speaking of firsts, my first ever limited edition Mac lipstick was in the shade Sweet and Sour, which now is part of their permanent collection something which slightly annoyed me as I’d purchased it mostly because it was a limited edition. This lipstick, came out in the ‘ All about orange’ collection and was the lightest from the range. Like hue, Sweet and sour is quite sheer and doesn't have long wearing colour but with touch ups can provide a really nice flush of colour. I deffinetly do not recommend this for fair skin shades, it washes me out completely and is really unflattering. But with tanned skin it looks really subtle and fresh on the lips. Deffinetly a shade for spring and summer time.

Speed Dial, Sait Germain, Creme Cup, Hue, Sweet & Sour
The darkest shade in my collection is in the colour Media. This is my favourite lipstick throughout Winter and Autumn and always a must have for nights out. Media is a really dark red-wine shade and like most Mac lipsticks super pigmented and long lasting which is great for nights when reapplying lipstick can become very annoying! This lipstick suits both fair and darker skin shades which is also a bonus.

My two Red Lipsticks are in the shades Mac Red and Ruby Woo. I find both shades to be very similar in colour only their finishes are super different! Ruby Woo is in a matte finish and can be very drying but for the colour payoff and longevity of the lipstick it is super worth it. Mac Red is very similar in colour but slightly cooler and is a satin finish so moisturising but not messy at all. Both are incredibly opaque blue toned reds that I find are perfect for fair skin.

My final Mac lipstick shade is in the colour Vegas Volt which is a super bright coral. I look at this lipstick and all I can think of is summer, it is the perfect summery and vibrant shade. I love wearing this on nights out for a huge pop of colour. This shade like others is opaque with great colour pay off but isn’t as long lasting as i’d like and does require touch ups! Because it’s such a bright colour I deffinetly recommend bringing along some concealer as well when you go to reapply for a perfect crisp line.

Vegas Volt, Mac Red, Ruby Woo, Media

Have you used any of these Mac lipsticks before? what are your favourites, let me know!

How I style a denim jacket

The denim jacket is one of the most classic and timeless pieces that should be a staple in your closet. It is the perfect piece for autumn and winter layering that can completely tie together an entire look and can really help in adding a grunge aspect to your outfit. I own two different denim jacket both very different styles one more grunge and the other much more feminine.

My style is very simple and classic, I love black and white clothing and love it even more when I can tie in a denim piece and gold details. This denim jacket from Forever New is a slightly cropped acid wash jacket and is a medium blue tone with pearl button details. I love pairing this with tones of different outfits but as the weather is only becoming cooler I'm still wearing it with shorts. Embroidery is huge trend this season, these high waisted shorts from ASOS have a gorgeous embroidered hem and look perfect with black crop tops or braletes like this one from Missguided.

My absolute favourite part about colder seasons are boots and these ones are my favourite of the ones I own. They cut off just above the ankle and have a medium heel and are ridiculously comfortable.

To add in a gold touch I love wearing this watch with a black band and gold face as well as my gold aviator sunglasses from ASOS.

My second denim jacket is also from Forever New and is much longer and more feminine with lots of gold details on the buttons and just on the corners of the collar. This jacket as its much softer I wear both with the buttons done up or undone with a blouse or white ribbed crop top. I've been wearing this jacket with black shorts especially these tailored shorts from ASOS with split details in the hem. During much colder days I'll pair this jacket with a pair of black ripped knee skinny jeans or leather look pants.

To tie in the sharp details on the collar and splits on the pants I like using chevron printed phone cases  and full gold jewellery which really pulls the outfit together.

How do you style your denim jacket?

A day in the country

Recently myself and my family spent the day in the cosy country side looking at a new home and spent time exploring the small country towns. I used to live in the country when I was younger and found myself quite nostalgic spending time in a place with such beautiful scenery and quaint towns. I took a lot of photos while out and thought I would share them with you. Enjoy x

If only gorgeous country homes and quaint towns were closer to the city right? If you enjoyed this lifestyle piece let me know.

Inglot Freedom system eyeshadow palette

If you haven't heard of Inglot then I don't know where you've been living. Inglot is in my top five for favourite eyeshadow products and it always astounds me how inexpensive they are. Every eyeshadow and I’m talking every eyeshadow is at $10 AUD, now just let that sink in. These eyeshadows are high end quality and cheaper than most drug store products. I kept looking for something wrong with them but I simply can’t I even adore the packaging which is simple, chic and of good quality so it makes traveling super easy.

The Inglot range uses a ‘freedom’ system which pretty much involves choosing a palette from 1-20 and picking out your favourite eye shadows from their range. I originally started with a quad but also purchased a 10 shadow palette. What’s great about this is you can start off with just a few of your favourites if you are running low on money or want to wait for their new shadow release.

The eyeshadows themselves come in a range of colours and finishes that are all very pigmented, blendable and have excellent colour pay off. The shades I have in my collection are numbers 487 (shimmery purple), 153 (champagne), Shine 31 (soft taupe), Pearl  402 (medium brown), Pearl 423 (dark brown), Pearl 451 (charcoal), Shine 36 (medium grey), Pearl 447 (light grey) and Pearl 395 (creme). I absolutely love using pearl 395 as an inner lid highlight or dusted along my brow bone.

Pearl 395, 153, Shine 31 and 487
Pearl 451, Shine 36 and Pearl 447
Pearl 423 and Pearl 402
The shades I own provide me with the option to create a natural, neutral or smoky eye look all from one customised palette which is really helpful to take with you on trips away from home. This also means you can buy one palette with multiple colours and switch it up to your liking.

If you’re all for freedom and customisation with your eyeshadows these are deffinetly for you. Let me know in the comments below if you have tried any shadows from Inglot cosmetics.

Favourite blushes for pale skin tones

Winter is on its way bringing with it the inevitable loss of our rosy cheeks and glowing skin. Blush can completely reinvent a makeup look when your skin is look a little dull. I have a naturally fair skin tone and have over time found a few blushes that have really helped in battling lifeless looking skin. These products would also be great throughout the winter to mimic the natural flush of the sun.

This illamasqua blush is by far my favourite for two reasons, the first because of the name 'Katie' and two for its perfect baby-doll pink colour. This blush is incredibly pigmented and has a very silky light texture that doesn't crumble on the brush or have fall out. I love using this with my Hourglass ambient lighting palette.

Pink and peach blushes are the perfect tones for pale skin tones particularly those with blue undertones. I love the Benefit Dandelion blush which I mentioned in my Benefit box collection for swapping out my usual pink blushes for a gorgeous peach.

If barbie pinks or ballerina peaches aren't for you then I recommend the range of blushes by Hourglass. They are 'lighting' blushes and so can almost double as a highlight but make for excellent blushes throughout the winter months or for fair skin tones to add life to your skin. This blush is in the shade Diffused Heat and is a rosy poppy shade and very pigmented.

I love these three products (among others) especially throughout the winter times, although all blushes particularly Diffused Heat looks amazing with tanned skin as well.

Let me know if you have tried these products or which blushes you use to create glowing skin!

Sitting in my basket | Missguided

Like most people I am obsessed with online shopping! Is it the convenience? or the fact I can stay home in my pyjamas ogling this seasons trends procrastinating... maybe both but either way all I can say is I love it but can often find it a little over whelming. I know what you're thinking 'shopping overwhelming? yeah ok' but rest assured we've all had those moments. There's so many websites, prices, tabs open every where and you just don't know what you want. Your style clashes with the things you like from different websites or your bank account is just screaming at you to stop. I've felt all these things and it can often make shopping a little frustrating especially on the occasions when you're rushing to find the perfect dress for the weekend.

I thought this would be a great opportunity to share with you some of my favourite online shops and what is currently in my wish list, basket or saved items. This will be my new series 'Sitting in my basket' and each month I will focus on one online shop. This month will be one of my favourite clothing stores Missguided.

Missguided was one of the very first stores I purchased from online, I was always very hesitant to purchase anything that wasn't in store fearing the clothing would never fit right or be great quality, plus there's always the dangers of losing all your money! But nonetheless I made my first purchase and never regretted it. Everything I have purchased from Missguided has been great quality for the affordable price and always arrived on time. The website is also really easy to navigate, I can't stand busy over the top websites I will always exit out of them!

Coats: Yes winter is coming and I am getting ready to stock up on all the ones I can find, because honestly who doesn't love layering? In my misguided basket I have the Khloe oversized premium waterfall coat in ivory and camel as well as the Hether textured tailored boyfriend coat in pink. I absolutely love the style of the waterfall coats and will deffinetly be getting both colours, they are very Kardashian-esque so do I really need another reason to get them? The 'boyfriend' trend is really hitting this year and the boyfriend coat isn't an exception, this one is in a softer pink and is on sale!

Tops: I always find myself gravitating to black and white colours and tops! I love this Eyelash lace bralet in black, lace is really in this year and this crop could easily be used as a day to night both for hitting the town or paired with a pair of jeans and a trench. I also have in my basket a cropped ribbed long sleeve turtle neck, the turtle neck is also making a come back and I simply can't resist anything ribbed. I also added a capped sleeve knotted crop top and jersey crop top with cut elbows.

Skirts: I have one skirt in my Missguided basket and that is the Kabrie front split midi skirt in camel. This skirt is super luxurious and I couldn't pass it up as it was quickly added to my cart. I mean its in camel... I had to.

If you like the idea of this series let me know in the comments, or if you'd like to see how I style these outfits!
